ISBN#’s and New Editions

Here’s another thing that I’ve been straightening out this winter! I now have ISBN#’s for my books. This won’t be a visible change for you on upcoming titles, but there will be some changes in backlist titles on two portals, Kobo and iBooks.

Portals usually use the ISBN# or a substitute as a tracking number, so it’s not a piece of information that can be updated or changed once the book has been published. The thing with both iBooks and Kobo is that they don’t transfer reviews between editions of a book. So, at those portals, when I unpublish the old editions and publish new editions, with ISBN#’s, the book will lose its reviews. In the hope that they both change their systems soon, I’ll start with books that don’t have many or any reviews. All new books will go out with ISBN#’s. Other portals link all the editions of a book together, so the change will be invisible to you.

Claimed, an Erotic Romance by Ella Ardent• If you had pre-ordered Claimed at Kobo, you probably got a message on Friday or Saturday that you wouldn’t be getting it after all. That’s because the old edition – which you pre-ordered – has been unpublished. There’s a new edition, with an ISBN#, right here. Sorry to make trouble for you, but you just need to pre-order the new one to get the book right on time on the 22nd.

• And then there’s iBooks. Because there were quite a few pre-orders for Claimed there, I published the edition that was already set to go. I have been delivering books to iBooks via Smashwords, but will be publishing directly to Apple from this point onward. By the end of the month, I’ll make a new version of Claimed available at iBooks and cancel the existing one. Please wait to post your review!

Her Dark Prince, an erotic fairy tale by Ella Ardent• If you had pre-ordered Her Dark Prince from Smashwords or iBooks, that version has been cancelled. There will be a new version at iBooks soon. I apologize for any inconvenience. I had already added the ISBN to the version at Kobo, so it’s good to go.

• The first books to have their editions replaced will be The Phoenix stories. This won’t affect the book files that you’ve bought – they’ll still be yours – but should make my books available in more places in future.

Pre-Order The Phoenix

I’ve added pre-order links where possible for the next three Phoenix stories: Haunted, Sold and Claimed. I can set pre-orders up at Smashwords, iBooks, and Kobo up to a year in advance, but only for the next 90 days at Amazon. C’est la vie!

They are more spaced out than would be ideal, but there are penalties for missing the upload date on a pre-order, so I’m erring on the side of caution! My hope is that I’ll get them all finished up and catch up, so that the ones after that can be published more quickly in succession. Fingers crossed!

You can find the links on The Phoenix page, right here, along with the copy for each one.

Dangerous Update

We seem to be lagging behind on distribution for the installments of Dangerous. As of tonight, Part 4: G and Part 5: E still aren’t available on KOBO, and Part 6: R is still snared in publication. I guess it’s a seasonal overload of titles.

So, I’m going to move the pub date for O out by a week, and hope we get caught up by then. 🙂

A Dangerous Update

Here it is the middle of August already, and time for an update on Dangerous.

Dangerous, an erotic romance by Ella Ardent

I had warned you that there would be a gap in releases this summer, because I’m doing things a bit differently with Dangerous: instead of publishing the story as I go (the way I did the Plume series) I’m writing the whole thing first. It will all be done and ready to go before the first installment is published. The story is taking longer to write than I’d expected (this seems to be typical) and it’s coming out longer than I’d anticipated (also typical) but I like the result a lot (I hope that remains typical!). There are some other changes to my process this time, too. I’ve hired an editor for this project (as well as my usual beta reader) so once the book is in the editor’s hands, I’ll update the page for Dangerous here on the site.

Dangerous is a dark erotic romance. It will be published in nine weekly installments, then the whole story will be available in trade paperback. The installments will be available for pre-order at Kobo, and we’ll see where else pre-orders can happen. Dates are still a bit squishy, but it looks as if we’ll launch in mid to late September. After Dangerous is on its way, I’ll work on the first three stories in The Phoenix series.

I hope you’ve all had a good summer so far! I should be doing that update around the end of this month. 🙂

Small Technical Issue

While I was sick, I uploaded all of my books directly to KOBO – that’s the kind of job that doesn’t take a lot of energy or concentration. They’re all there now, BUT the ratings and reviews have disappeared.

I’ve added the new tracking numbers to Goodreads, as this should help the Goodreads reviews to appear on the KOBO site. But KOBO tells me that there need to be reviews and ratings on the KOBO site to prompt the feed from Goodreads.

This is where you come in. 🙂 If you’ve bought one of my books from KOBO, could you please review it on their site and rate it? Also, if you did that before, it will be gone – the directly uploaded book appears as a new book, and the data from the older version is lost – so I’d appreciate if you could do it again.

All Ella titles on KOBO are in this listing right here.

Thank you! This is a bit painful, but it means that new books will be available more quickly to you KOBO shoppers, and also that I’ll have more control over the pricing etc., on the books.

I’ve just discovered that I can upload directly to Barnes and Noble as well (YAY!) so next week, you Nook users will have the same request from me.

Now, back to finishing SWITCH…
